Hi everyone! It's Susan here, Melissa's assistant. One of the things I do in my role for Melissa is coordinate the testing efforts for upcoming releases. And I have some Sora Sweater and Skye Joggers tester photos for you today!
The testing process is crucial to a great finished sewing pattern, and we are so grateful for our dedicated team who put in their sewing time and energy on it. They ended up with some awesome garments, too!
SKYE JOGGERS
Melissa designed Skye to be the perfect slim-fit joggers - skimming the hips and thighs, and fitting a little closer below the knee. They are drafted to sit at about your bellybutton. The pattern includes ankle and calf lengths, and both are finished with a cuff/band.
Of course the pockets are essential! These are roomy and easy to sew, with a slight curved opening to prevent gaping.
All of us who sew know how important that crotch curve is! We spent a lot of time refining this during testing. And if you need help tweaking the fit just for your figure, lots of fitting help is included in the pattern.
SORA SWEATER
Melissa was originally inspired to create the Sora Sweater based on some knitting patterns. As she developed it, she tweaked the design and ended up with a really versatile pattern. It includes a couple of lengths, both a cardigan view as well as a pullover, and either short sleeves or long.
Spotlight on the shawl collar design! It may look intimidating to sew, but it's not hard. And Melissa posted a video for it here.
The side gussets add visual interest and shaping, and they highlight the curved hemline. They blend in when you use a print, or they set off the style lines in a solid.

Below is the sizing guide I use when designing children's patterns. Please note that these measurements refer to your child, not to any measurements on the finished pattern.
